Preparing
Once you have decided you are ready to list, you will start cleaning; make sure you give your home a complete clean. Some of the key areas to focus on when cleaning are your kitchen appliances, dusting cupboards, washing windows, applying fresh paint, and repairing any leaky faucets or toilets.
Packing
You will want to start packing up your belongings right away, when packing, consider making an inventory list to help yourself stay organized. You will want to have plenty of boxes, plastic containers, tape, and packing paper. Once you have filled a box also ensure you label it clearly and mark anything you wish to move yourself, also try and take any jewelry or currency with you personally to ensure it does not get lost.
Moving
Once your home is sold it will be time to start moving, there will be some time before the buyers take possession for you to take care of this. Make sure you double check your inventory list as you move everything out of your old home and into your new home.
Changing Your Address
Now that you have moved everything in to your new home don’t forget to change your address! Notify your friends and family and inform your insurance provider, utility companies, credit card companies, doctor, dentist, etc. You will also want to ensure you change over your gas, water, and hydro.
